Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Complex regional pain syndrome is a chronic pain that can affect any part of the body especially the arms and the legs. No one is sure about the cause of complex pain regional syndrome (CPRS).

Physiotherapy is increasingly seen as an important and ongoing process in the treatment of regional pain syndrome.

Symptoms of CPRS can vary greatly, however the most common is severe pain that gets worse with activity. Pain can often be felt in multiple areas like the neck, back, arms and legs. Skin changes may occur in the affected areas, and sudden change in temperature may become painful. Swelling, skin sensitivity and sweating are other common symptoms. There is no single cure for CPRS but there are physiotherapy treatments that can help in relieving pain and effectively managing the symptoms.
