Back and Neck Pain
About 60% of adults experience back or neck pain each year, which means that for many people the problem recurs year after year or simply never goes away. We’ve invested in a new state of the art treatment that has proved very successful in offering long term relief from spinal pain. Its effectiveness comes from its ability to reduce the strain on the damaged areas of the spine. Using the equipment we can painlessly restore mobility throughout the spine, this allows the painful and damaged discs, ligaments and joints to heal.
Conventional treatment for back and neck pain including chiropractic and osteopathy may not be as effective as you think. In 1995 the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Policy reviewed 10,317 clinical trials on back pain and came up with the following summery:
The panel found manipulation to be a recommendable method of symptom control, when used within the first month of symptoms. If no symptomatic and functional improvement has been noted after 1 month, treatment should be stopped and the patient re-evaluated.
A study, by Edzard Ernst, professor of complementary medicine at Peninsula medical school, Exeter, and published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, reviewed papers on spinal manipulation since 2001. It concludes that the effectiveness of spinal manipulation for most conditions is not well established. "The incidence of serious complications such as stroke, following spinal manipulation, remains unknown, but there are grounds for reconsidering its use in routine health care" it says.
Commenting on his findings, Professor Ernst said: 'Even allowing for an extraordinarily high level of under-reporting, spinal manipulation has been associated with about 600 serious adverse events. In addition, it causes non-serious adverse effects in about 50 per cent of all patients. If any drug were linked to such rates of harm, I doubt it would be on the market.'

The Need for a New Approach

The spine is of course designed to move, and it is the ease with which it moves that determines whether stresses can flow through it as nature intended. If some of the segments have become stiff it may cause other segments to become over-stained resulting in; stretched ligaments, disc lesions and arthritic changes. Power Assisted Micro-manipulation provides a uniquely effective means of restoring mechanical efficiency, so that the stresses can once again flow through the spine as they should.
It is a logical treatment based on the identification of the causes of back pain, this results in a near perfect correlation between the procedure, improved mechanical performance and recovery.
The treatment is safe as the damaged areas of the spine are not directly manipulated. The benefits of the treatment, are the product of basic research identifying the cause of the problem, and offering a logical solution to it, it is in effect an exercise in applied physics.
Below are some of the many articles that have been written about patients treated with Power Assisted Micro-manipulation (Alternatively called TAMARS or Advanced Spinal Tech).
